Why Small Christian Communities?
Small Christian Communities are the future of the Catholic Church. Small groups engage their members, fulfill the synodal vision of the pope and bishops, and transform a parish or diocese into a community of communities. Parishioners who partake in small Christian communities not only connect to each other, but become more committed to their parish.
This is the way to build a vibrant future for the Church!
What Pastors Are Saying
The ARISE experience has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for the community of Holy Trinity Parish. The number one impact was the effect of faith-sharing on the daily life of the participants. They were able to express things in a safe and caring environment and share in other people's religious journeys; these sessions truly helped all participants be more open to salvation in Christ.
The greatest outcome of ARISE at Holy Trinity was the renewed sense of community experienced in the Eucharist. During this time of confusion about the nature of the Blessed Sacrament, a growing awareness of the centrality of the Eucharist has emerged and it serves our parish well. ARISE is a great tool for evangelization and catechesis in the twenty-first century.
What Participants Are Saying
“ARISE has strengthened my faith through community, learning from others through our large groups, and also by reading the Bible more and just really interacting with God myself and building a personal relationship.”
Go from this...
...an impersonal gathering of people all seeking to be ministered to by the parish leadership
To this...
... a community of communities where formed disciples minister to each other and the leadership can effectively guide the parish.
Jesus himself started by gathering a small group of disciples around him. He taught them, shared with them, and trusted them with the mission to build the Church and transform the world.
What are Small Christian Communities?
Groups of 6-10 people
These small groups gather regularly to share their faith experiences, reflect on the Scripture, and pray together.
These groups encourage personal openness, mutual support, and the development of deep, trusting relationships among members.
Results of Small Christian Communities
Focus on Spiritual Growth By engaging in regular faith-sharing, members are invited to grow in their understanding of Scripture, the teachings of the Church, and their personal relationship with God.
Community Building Through the process of sharing and supporting each other, group members develop bonds of friendship and solidarity. This also helps them become more connected to their local Church community.
Mission and Service In addition to prayer, Scripture, and discussion questions, RENEW resources prompt small group members to consider how to put their faith into action, calling for acts of charity, outreach, and social justice.
