||"Members of my small Christian Community went in twos to visit inactive Catholics. We asked if they would like us to pray with them. Eighteen people have returned to church because of our visits."|
"A couple in our community had lost an adult child to AIDS. For the first time, they were able to speak about it, and experienced acceptance and support from our members. For them it was a great healing experience."
"At our church, we are seeing that all the new Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and other volunteers are coming from our small Christian communities. RENEW Africa is helping our parishioners recognize their gifts and come forward to serve."
"One Small Christian Community started the Light For Hope project. They adopted a creche called Nonciba. They help the caregivers, play with the children, and provide financial support."
"What had the most impact on me this season is the new members that joined Embracing Hope. The reason being: the Third Season, as was its theme, We are Church, emphasized on being one community, one body, trying to get people more involved in the church activities (as their own)."
|Teaching justice and peace is the main mission of the Church-Family of God. The children of God are the peacemakers; the Lord Jesus proclaims: "blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." If the Church in Africa is the Family of God, she is the place of reconciliation, justice and peace...the Fathers at the first Synod for Africa recognized that the Church unless she is divided into communities small enough to foster close human relationships... To take this mission on, we must work towards transforming our Base Christian Communities.|
