ARISE Inspires Cookbook to Benefit Homeless
The third Season of ARISE Together in Christ is titled, "In the Footsteps of Christ" and focuses on the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Participants at St. Julia Parish in Weston, MA responded to the call for action by creating and marketing a cookbook called Food for the Body and Soul. The proceeds from the book will go to Hearth, Inc., a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to combatting elder homelessness.
The introduction to book explains how the project came about:
"The inspiration for this cookbook came from a group of parishioners experiencing ARISE Together in Christ, a three-year process of evangelization and spiritual renewal developed by RENEW International. The core of this process helps people become better hearers and doers of the Word of God through the formation of small communities who gather to pray, reflect and share the Word of God. Through faith-sharing, spirituality is fostered and action steps that concretely put faith into action emerge. Such was the inspiration for this cookbook, dedicated to benefit homeless elders. This invitation to act was extended to all ARISE groups and friends throughout the Archdiocese of Boston."
